The Berni armchair originates from a 1980 design. The initial idea was to create a chair equally suited for conversation and dining – at the time, it was paired with a coffee table that could be raised to dining height. The project embodied the highest quality of wood craftsmanship, achieving excellence both in technology and material expertise. The result remains pure poetry even today.

The Légère series also includes a two-seater sofa and a pouf.

Structure: natural or dyed oak heartwood, spacers in plastic and felt.
Structural cover: consisting of two layers of Piqué fabric, between which a polyester support net and a thermoformed ABS seat are inserted.

Seat and back cushion padding: recycled and biodegradable polyester fibre, stress resistant expanded polyurethane insert for the seat only, fixed foam covering in polyester and polyamide.
Upholstery cover: removable, available in the indoor fabrics listed here below and in Maglia Rasata Indoor.

Seat and back cushion is simply arranged onto the structure.

The colour of the load-bearing cover in Piqué fabric is always in a colour matching the upholstery of the seat/back cushion.

Born in Milan in 1921, Angelo Mangiarotti was both a designer and educator, combining his architectural, urban planning, and design practice with a distinguished teaching career at leading universities in Italy and abroad. He regarded architecture as a practical, functional, and restrained art form, while industrial design, for him, was a way to express the artisan’s touch through materiality. Unlike many of his contemporaries in the first generation of Italian design, Mangiarotti’s approach prioritized the adaptation of objects to their intended function, material properties, and environmental conditions.

Springing: at sight, crafted with elastic polyester cords woven onto the structure.

A seat pad simply laid onto the structure completes the seat.

Seat pad padding: stress resistant expanded polyurethane, fixed foam covering in recycled and biodegradable polyester fibre and polyamide.
Seat pad upholstery: removable, in Ruffle indoor fabric.

Notes:
The sassafras wood is treated against stains and water with waterbased products that limit the absorption of liquids and greasy substances.

The polyester cord used for the seat weave is exclusive to Paola Lenti and is available in a single colour; its elasticity provides a subtle bounce that makes the chaise more welcoming and comfortable.

Ruffle indoor is a pure virgin wool exclusive fabric, soft and with a deliberately irregular texture, conceived and crafted specifically for this product.

Notes: Linea is one of the first projects resulting from the collaboration between the designer Francesco Rota and Paola Lenti and one of the products that made the company famous around the world.

Awards: the Linea chaise longue received the Mention of Honor of the COMPASSO D’ORO award in 2001.

Armchair for interior environments with knitted pad.

Structure: stainless steel AISI 316, matt varnished in the colours in the collection (reference for colours: Mano Lucida wood sample collection), plastic spacers.

An independent pad is hooked onto the steel structure to guarantee comfort; it is composed of elements with different shape and dimensions.
Each element is bordered and joined to the others to form a unique seating piece which is different each time.

Pad padding: recycled and biodegradable polyester fiber.
Upholstery cover: fixed, in Maglia Rasata knit.

Notes: By the very nature of the production process, these armchairs are unique pieces: they mix textile leftovers recovered from previous production according to an aesthetic criterion, which enhances every single colour combination, and a conceptual one, which takes up the philosophy of “no waste” and makes them become an integral part of the Mottainai collection. Therefore, it will be possible to indicate only the desired main shade of the desired seat pad.
